Burning Platforms: True Lies - Disinformation in an Election Year

True Lies: Disinformation in an Election Year

UPDATE: Unfortunately, Timothy Graham is unwell, so we will be speaking with his QUT colleague Professor Dan Angus, who has kindly stepped in.

As the Federal Election approaches amid heightened geo-political tensions, Burning Platforms looks at a ground-breaking attempt to understand how political actors game the social media algorithms to deliver targeted disinformation.

We will dive in deep with Timothy Graham, who is tracking online disinformation in the run-up to the 2022 poll through an ARC-funded DECRA project: Combating Coordinated Inauthentic Behaviour on Social Media (2022-2025).

Join regular panellists Director for the Australia Institute’s Centre for Responsible Technology Peter Lewis and Digital Rights Watch Chair Lizzie O’Shea along with Guardian Australia’s Josh Taylor for our fortnightly discussion on the power and politics of technology.
